The Lehua Flower from Hawaii's Ohia tree is associated with a mythos of fidelity and eternal love. A tree strong and resilient enough to grow in the midst of lava fields is named after the warrior Ohi'a, who declined the advances of the volcano goddess Pele. His beloved Lehua is the flower that adorns him.
 
On a pilgrimage in Volcanoes National park with an indigenous wisdom keeper, the clouds parted at the behest of prayer to imbue this essence with sunlight, followed by over 5 minutes of cloud iridescence, guiding me to stay on the Big Island for another month of solitary spiritual practice in dedication to the collective. During that month, after donating $20 to feed feral cats at King Kamehameha's temple, I was gifted hospitality in the town where this rare golden-yellow version of the Lehua flower was collected, Waimea. Driving by the town, the land was immersed in a rainbow.
